cassandraclare: A whole bunch of people have asked me about this picture of Jamie from GQ and whether you can buy the Morgenstern ring he’s wearing. As far as I know, not yet. Viviene Hebel makes a version but it’s not the same ring Jamie has, because Jamie’s is a movie prop. They made two or three of them, but that’s it. Movie props are real jewelry — if they’re supposed to be silver, they’re silver, and they’re heavy. (I found this out when I tried to lift the Mortal Cup and it almost took my arm off.) Tangentially, I always told myself they would never actually make a movie out of the Mortal Instruments. That it was too weird, and anyway, movies don’t happen to books much. 99% of the time the don’t get optioned and 99% of what gets optioned never gets made. I told myself I couldn’t control what happened with the film, whether it got made or the casting or any of it, but if they did actually make it, I’d buy myself a present when they greenlit it. So when they greenlit City of Bones, I bought myself a bracelet I’d been wanting for literally years, that was one of kind and handmade, that had the Union Jack on it. I wore it through all of filming, when I was onset and when I wasn’t, and on the last day of filming I took it off and gave it to Jamie and told him it was my official blessing for being the best possible Jace. That’s the bracelet he’s wearing on the right, there. I was happy to have it when I bought it, but I’m happier with where it is now — he deserves it. :) And that is my heartwarming story for the day. If you’re ever stuck in an elevator with Jamie, you can always ask him about the bracelet; it’ll give you something to chat about.
